US President Donald Trump will declare the “national emergency” to complete the financing of the wall he wants to erect at the border with Mexico to fight illegal immigration, announced Thursday the Senate Republican majority leader ,  Mitch McConnell

“He will declare a national emergency at the same time,” said McConnell, adding that he supports this rare procedure allowing the US president to bypass Congress to raise funds.

Shortly after the White House confirmed Donald Trump’s intention to declare the “national emergency” to fund the promised infrastructure during his campaign.

“It would be very bad,” reacted in the chamber the leader of the Democratic minority Senate Chuck Schumer.

THE US SENATE APPROVES THE BUDGET AGREEMENT TO AVOID A “SHUTDOWN”

The US Senate overwhelmingly approved on Thursday the negotiated budget compromise to avoid further fiscal paralysis.

The budget law, which includes only a quarter of the budget demanded by Mr Trump to erect the wall, was approved by 83 votes for and 16 against the Senate, controlled by the Republicans (53 seats out of 100). The House of Representatives, with a Democratic majority, must in turn vote from 18:30, then Donald Trump will enact the law.
