A motorcyclist is in critical condition at the hospital after losing control of his vehicle on Autoroute 15 South, near Boulevard Sainte-Rose in Laval, around 9:30 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
The weekend was particularly tragic for motorcyclists in Quebec, with four accidents in 24 hours.
One of them, on Saturday night on Highway 15 in Laval, was deadly. A 22-year-old man who was riding in a group of motorcyclists lost control of his machine and hit a low wall, before being ejected and hit by a motorist who could not avoid it.
In the evening of Saturday, a motorcyclist also lost control of his vehicle in similar circumstances , before hitting a wall and being ejected on Highway 40 in the west of Montreal.
On Saturday night, a man was found unconscious near his motorcycle, in a wooded area of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, in Center-du-Québec.
Finally, Saturday afternoon, a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle caused a serious injury in Candiac, Montérégie. The circumstances of the accident remained to be clarified.
The victims of these three accidents were all led between life and death in the hospital, before taking the best and see their condition stabilize.
These accidents occur when a large rally of motorcyclists was held in Laval on Sunday, by fans exasperated by the numerous police controls on them, who will also discuss the possibility of bringing a class action.
Asked about the high number of motorcycle accidents that occurred over the weekend, the director general of the Quebec Federation of Motorcyclists refuses to talk about widespread behavior. “We understand that they are motorcyclists who have lost control of their bike, and that means going too fast, or lack of skills and abilities,” he summarized. He also reminds that his federation is working hard on prevention among its members.
