The Indian state government is working with Tech Mahindra, a multinational computer services giant, to set up a district devoted to blockchain startups in the capital.
A first Blockchain initiative
The state of Telangana launches the first district dedicated to the Blockchain in its capital Hyderabad. Tech Mahindra provides access to network technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions for the telecommunications industry. The company has more than 117,000 employees across 90 countries.
In order to concretise its approach, Tech Mahindra has signed a memorandum of understanding with the IT department of Telangana. The center of excellence will provide an environment conducive to the development of large distributed registry technology. It should include a technology incubator and infrastructure that promotes knowledge of startups and Indian companies.
In addition, Techn Mahindra will lend its knowledge and expertise centered on the Blockchain ecosystem. In parallel, the Telangana government will provide regulatory and policy support to promote the Blockchain in India and around the world.
KT Rama Rao, the IT minister of Telangana said :
“The Telangana government is proud to be the pioneer of the blockchain district in India. ”
” With the support of Tech Mahindra, we plan to establish a baseline in providing technology solutions and platforms for all industries. “
Make India a World Blockchain Center
The blockchain-based department will consist of buildings, with many residents coming from a wide range of sectors.
“The district … has a global talent center that can unlock the value of Blockchain technology to democratize data and solve problems on a large scale,” said Tech Mahindra CEO Gurnani.
“It’s also a big step towards requalification and the acquisition of good workforce skills for the future. The Blockchain experts will be our gems, as we work together to make India the blockchain capital of the world, “he added.
The announcement comes a few weeks after the Telangana government signed several memorandums of understanding with Blockchain companies, to name only Nucleus Vision , Eleven01 Foundation, C-DAC, T-Hub and IIIT-Hyderabad among the entities that have entered into a memorandum of understanding with Telangana.
