Kakao, the Asian messaging giant, unveiled the test version of its new blockchain product, Klaytn. Its official launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.
A simple but effective ecosystem
Kakao has more than 100 million users. A meeting to present his new product will take place during Blockchain Week in San Francisco.
Focusing on the development of decentralized applications (dApps), the project will host ten companies that will be able to experience the operation of the Klaytn platform during the test.
Native features of popular Blockchain platforms such as portfolios, addresses and private keys have been removed to allow more convenient – simple but effective access to technology.
“Klaytn is an easy and user-friendly environment for end users, service providers and developers,” says the Korea Herald report.
Kakao has become increasingly active in the Blockchain with projects from various sectors of the company and its subsidiaries . Moreover, Klaytn is not strictly speaking the particular initiative of the messaging giant but that of its production subsidiary – Ground X. CEO Jason Han says that:
“The popularization of technology […] requires the provision of practical services to accelerate mass adoption , validating the value and usefulness of the Blockchain. “
- Klaytn has its own wallet where users can store their chips. Which is, of course, a little contradictory to what has been mentioned above. The platform did not give more details in its press release.
- The project also offers BLASQ, an inter-developer communication platform.
- The third service is Klaytn Scope, which monitors all activities on the Klaytn platform, including block creation and transaction information.
