A 20-year-old driver lost his life after a police chase that took place in Sorel-Tracy, Montérégie, on Tuesday morning.
The man was chased at about 6:10 am by police officers of the police of Québec because of a violation of the Highway Safety Code, according to the Bureau of Independent Investigations (EIB) which is responsible for conducting the investigation as police officers were involved in the event.
“During the pursuit, the vehicle would have taken a dirt road to sow the police, but would have been chased out of the way by another patrol car,” the EIB said in a statement.
The EIB has assigned eight investigators to this case. The City of Montreal Police Service will help them by providing a forensic identification technician and two collision reconstruction experts.
